New Volvo XC90 Recharger 2024 Changes, Specs, Engine

New Volvo XC90 Recharger 2024 Changes, Specs, EngineThe Volvo XC90 is a superb option among cars in the massive mid-size luxury SUV sector due to its modern design, spacious interior, and high-quality amenities and safety systems. The Volvo XC90 is the company’s largest SUV, and it can seat as many as seven passengers across its three rows of seats. Its main competitors are the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Genesis GV80, and Mercedes-Benz GLE-class. Part of the reason why the XC90 is so high on our list is because of its classy cabin, which is drenched in Swedish design cues. Volvo offers various engine options, from a 247-hp turbocharged inline-four paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system to a plug-in system producing 455 hp in the XC90 Recharge. All XC90 engines are eight-speed automatics, and all models come standard with all-wheel drive. The XC90 was made with a high-end clientele, so it has a high maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and is filled with high-quality materials.

The Volvo XC90’s trim levels have been rechristened for 2024. There are now three tiers available, instead of only two (Momentum and Inscription): Core, Plus, and Ultimate. Volvo has replaced its gas-only T5 and T6 engines with four-cylinder turbo B5 and B6 mild-hybrid powertrains to convert its whole portfolio into an electric one. Volvo also eliminates six exterior paint options in favor of three new metallic hues: Bright Dusk, Platinum Grey, and Silver Dawn. The XC90’s exterior is now available in two new color schemes: Bright, which has chrome and bright trim, and Dark, which features high-gloss black components. Only the Core trim level is eligible for the new Climate Package, which includes a heated steering wheel, rear seats, and a headlamp cleaning system. The new Ultimate grade has an optional Lounge package that provides for massaging front seat backrests and a headliner that looks and feels like Nubuck suede. The Core grade now offers optional 20-inch wheels, while the Plus trim offers optional 21-inch wheels. A head-up show and a Harman Kardon sound system are also new add-ons you can buy separately.

New Volvo XC90 Recharger 2024 Redesign

New basic features and updated option bundles will be introduced for the XC90 range in 2024. In addition to the usual features included on all Momentum models, built-in navigation comes standard on the base model. All XC90s will no longer come with the rearview mirror compass or high-pressure headlamp cleaner, but they will all get a new back bumper with disguised exhaust pipes. The air filtration system, head-up display, and 360-degree camera are all new additions to the Advance package. Previously only available in the Premium Package, the Climate Upgrade now includes heated rear seats and a headlamp cleaner. Some models no longer have leather on their steering wheels. Instead, they have a more durable material.

2024 XC90 retains the luxurious appearance of its predecessor because of the incorporation of “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlamps and other subtle details that go back to the original design. The Excellence trim was dropped for 2021, leaving the T5 Momentum, T6 Momentum, and T6 Inscription as the only available XC90 options. The Volvo XC90 features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which is standard across the lineup. A 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged inline-four mated to an electric motor produces 400 horsepower in the XC90 T8 Recharge plug-in hybrid. Further, an all-electric Volvo is on the horizon for next year, thanks to the company’s commitment to electrifying its whole lineup.

Interior

The cabin of the New Volvo XC90 Recharger 2024 is a work of art. We wish there were more cars like this because of its appealing style and high-quality construction. Even though the third row has more excellent legroom than its competitors, adults won’t be satisfied sitting there. However, preteens may be convinced to sit there for a short trip. The XC90’s broad, boxy shape aids in freight transportation, but its cabin isn’t as spacious as its rivals.

The three-spoked, general steering wheel stores several functions conveniently. There is a seven-seat total, with bench seating in every model’s middle and rear rows. To accommodate a maximum of 6 passengers, an adjustable captain’s seat is included in the middle seat row of the optional 6+2 seating arrangement. All trims have four-zone temperature control with vents for the middle and rear rows, and the front seats are power-adjustable with a memory function for the driver.

Engine

A new rear electric motor adds 143 horsepower to the T8 plug-in hybrid engine, up from 87 hp in the previous year. Because of this, the total output power has increased from 400 to 455 horsepower. In addition, Volvo now offers a long-range battery with an increased capacity of 18.8 kWh, up from 11.6 kWh last year. The 2024 XC90 Recharge can now drive up to 35 miles on electric power alone thanks to this battery, nearly doubling its range from last year’s model. If you want to save cash, you can get the previous powerplant for up to $1,800 less, depending on the specification.

All three packages are powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder and mated to a responsive 8-speed automatic gearbox. The T5 model comes standard with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine that generates 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and is offered in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) layouts. The T6 model is an upgrade that brings standard all-wheel drive and a supercharger, increasing power and torque to 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet, respectively.

New Volvo XC90 Recharger 2024 Release Date and Price

The Volvo XC90 is available in a wide range of price points, thanks to its flexible engine options, number of seats, and equipment levels. The introductory pricing of a Momentum with a T5 engine starts at $49,000 and rises to $55,600 for the T5 R-Design. Both have an all-wheel-drive option for an additional $2,000. A Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum will set you back $56,950 for the seven-seater and $57,450 for the six-seater, while the T6 R-Design will set you back $62,650. Pricing for a seven-seat T6 Inscription begins at $63,250, with a six-seater going for an additional $500. Priced from $63,450 for the base Recharge Expression model to $69,150 for the Recharge R-Design and $69,750 for the Recharge Inscription, the plug-in hybrid Recharge is available in three different trim levels. There is an additional $500 for a six-seater. Volvo’s $995 destination fee to purchase every vehicle does not factor into the sticker price, nor do any incentives or potential tax refunds that may be applicable to the hybrid model. Volvo’s reborn XC90 will debut as a brand-new vehicle in June 2023.
