2024 Volvo S60 Facelift, Redesign, Engine – That is not to argue that the midsize luxury sedan cannot be an enjoyable vehicle to drive, but it will lack the same level of excitement. It does, however, amaze with its controlled handling and unmatched ride quality. Little disturbs the aristocratic sedan, and an all-wheel drive is always an option for added security. This will require selecting the more potent T8 hybrid model (now dubbed the Recharge), which is not a terrible choice given that the standard 2024 Volvo S60 lacks the punch we anticipate from a car in this price range.
All other worries, however, vanish as you’re buried in the beautiful interior, where soft leather and a slew of comfort amenities keep you floating on cloud nine. At the same time, the suspension smooths out almost every bump. The S60 may not be the most sporty luxury vehicle on the market in the United States. Still, it’s difficult to ignore its allure for people who value quality above flamboyant hoopla.
2024 Volvo S60 Redesign
The 2024 Volvo S60 is available in three model levels, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This year, the standard S60 Momentum received the R-bumpers, the design grille, and window trim and now appears practically identical to it. This trim loses its front fog lights and power-operated rear child locks this year. The highest two trim levels receive wireless device charging this year but lose the compass located on the rearview mirror.
The Advance Package, available as an option, now incorporates an upgraded cabin air-filtration system. Volvo now trims the steering wheel in a leather-free material and discontinues offering the leather-trimmed key fob. Additionally, there are some new paint colors and several that have been retired.
Interior
A premium sedan’s interior must be several things in order to live up to expectations, and the Volvo S60 does not disappoint. It is constructed entirely of the finest materials and its style is the embodiment of understated Swedish beauty. Even the lowest versions have genuine wool inlays, but the quality improves as you pay more. Unfortunately, there is less room than we would like, particularly in the back seats, and the trunk is barely tolerable.
We cannot criticize it, though, for its exhaustive array of features. Naturally, safety comes first, and the quantity of driver assistance features is astounding, but the infotainment system is also rather sophisticated. The nine-inch touchscreen is smaller than those offered by other rivals, and it may be difficult to manage at first. However, once you get used to it, you’ll find that it works naturally and doesn’t take much work.
Engine
Although the standard S60 engine is not very strong, considering the sedan’s size, it produces enough power to feel active. The four-cylinder turbocharged engine produces 260 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Fortunately, it comes standard with the same silky-smooth eight-speed automatic transmission as the rest of the range. However, if you need anything more than an acceptable charge, you must upgrade to the hybrid recharge.
The hybrid T8 is available in two power levels, with the base model producing 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft and the Polestar Engineered delivering a total of 415 hp and 472 lb-ft. This engine gives the S60 by far the greatest power and acceleration, making it the perfect option if you need to go anywhere quickly.
2024 Volvo S60 Release Date and Price
The S60 range begins at $39,250 for the Momentum, and goes up to $42,250 for the R-Design and Inscription. The Recharge models are priced higher, in line with what we’ve come to anticipate from hybrid automobiles. The R-Design Expression starts bidding at $47,650, while the R-Design and Inscription both start at $50,650.
